Concert Etiquette

We appreciate your attendance at our concert. It is our desire to provide an enjoyable musical experience for both the performers and for our audience. To help everyone enjoy our concert to it's fullest we provide the following tips:

  • Please be in your seat at least 10 minutes before the start of the concert. If you arrive late, wait by the doors until the first piece is finished, then discreetly find the nearest available seat. Once seated do not leave until the concert is over except for emergencies.
  • To enhance everyone's enjoyment of the music please do not talk. Even whispering can be distracting to both the performers and the audience.
  • Please turn off cell phones and pagers. Avoid rustling your program, tapping your feet, bouncing your legs, etc. Unnecessary movements can annoy people around you and lessen their enjoyment of the concert.
  • Please do not bring food or drink into the concert hall.
  • Children need exposure to good music and live performances, but young children may not be able to sit still long enough for a concert. If your child fusses or cries during the performance, please take him out of the hall immediately.
  • Applause is always appreciated by performers, but there are appropriate moments to applaud. When you read your program you will notice if a piece of music has more than one movement. It is best not to clap between movements but to wait until the entire piece has been performed.
  • By following basic edicts of respect and consideration, performers and the audience will have a more pleasurable and meaningful experience.
